AlpacaRelay + WordPress: Quality-Scored Emails, Connected

Sign up for AlpacaRelay at no cost—no credit card required. Visit alpacarelay.com and click Sign Up. Enter your email, create a password, and verify your account. Once confirmed, you'll land in the AlpacaRelay dashboard. This account is where you'll manage all integrations, email campaigns, and quality-scoring settings for your WordPress site. The setup takes less than two minutes.

In your AlpacaRelay dashboard, go to Settings > Integrations > WordPress. AlpacaRelay will generate a unique API key for your site. Copy this key—you'll paste it into your WordPress admin in the next step. The API key securely connects your WordPress database to AlpacaRelay without exposing sensitive data. AlpacaRelay uses read-only access by default, meaning it imports contact and content data but never modifies your WordPress database directly. Keep this key private and treat it like a password.

Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard. Go to Plugins > Add New and search for AlpacaRelay. Click Install Now, then Activate. A new AlpacaRelay menu will appear in your WordPress sidebar. Open it and paste your API key into the authentication field. Click Verify Connection. AlpacaRelay will confirm the link is secure and begin syncing your WordPress data in real time. This process takes 30 seconds. Data syncing uses webhooks, so updates to your WordPress contacts, posts, and user metadata appear in AlpacaRelay instantly—there is no performance impact on your WordPress site.

Once connected, AlpacaRelay displays all available data from your WordPress site: registered users, subscribers, post metadata, custom fields, comments, and contact forms (if using plugins like WPForms or Gravity Forms). Review the default field mapping—AlpacaRelay pre-maps common fields like email, first name, last name, and registration date. If you use custom fields or taxonomy data relevant to education (e.g., course enrollment, membership tier, student ID, department), add them to the sync. You control exactly which fields sync; sensitive data like passwords is never imported. Mapping takes 2-3 minutes.

Return to the AlpacaRelay dashboard and click Create Campaign. Select your WordPress data source and choose a template (or start blank). For education use cases, try a welcome email for new course subscribers or a re-engagement email for inactive members. Write your subject line, body, and call-to-action. Before sending, AlpacaRelay automatically scores your email across the 8-Dimension Email Quality Framework—evaluating deliverability, mobile rendering, CTA clarity, personalization depth, visual hierarchy, copy effectiveness, brand consistency, and structural compliance. Your email receives an Email Quality Score (EQS) between 1 and 10. Emails scoring EQS 8 or higher show 31% better inbox placement and 18% higher open rates than lower-scoring emails. If your score is below 8, AlpacaRelay surfaces specific recommendations to improve it. Once you approve, the email is live within 15 minutes.
