AlpacaRelay + WordPress: Quality-Scored Emails, Connected

Visit AlpacaRelay and sign up for a free account. No credit card required. You'll receive instant access to your dashboard, where you can begin the integration process immediately. Once logged in, navigate to Settings in the left sidebar, then select Integrations. WordPress will appear in the available platform list under Content Management Systems. This consistent workflow aligns with how you manage all integrations in AlpacaRelay, reducing cognitive load and ensuring you follow the same trusted setup pattern each time you connect a new platform.

Log into your WordPress admin dashboard. Navigate to Settings > AlpacaRelay (or your site's installed plugin settings). Select Generate New API Key. Copy the key that appears—this is your authentication credential. Do not share this key publicly. In AlpacaRelay, paste this API key into the WordPress Integrations panel under Authentication. AlpacaRelay will validate the key instantly. If validation fails, verify the key was copied completely and that your WordPress installation has the AlpacaRelay plugin installed and activated. This step establishes the secure, one-way connection from WordPress to AlpacaRelay.

After API validation, AlpacaRelay automatically detects available data fields from your WordPress installation: contact email, first name, last name, subscriber status, registration date, custom user meta fields, and post categories the contact has engaged with. Review the suggested mappings in the Data Mapping panel. AlpacaRelay defaults to syncing all detected fields; you may toggle off any fields you prefer not to sync. Confirm your selections. Data sync begins immediately—WordPress will push new subscriber data to AlpacaRelay in real time via webhooks, and AlpacaRelay will check for historical updates every 6 hours. Existing subscribers are imported in the initial sync (typically 5–15 minutes for lists under 50,000 contacts).

In AlpacaRelay, click Create Campaign and select WordPress as the data source. Choose a campaign type: Welcome Email (triggered when a new WordPress user registers), Post Notification (sent to subscribers interested in a post category), or Custom Workflow (e.g., win-back for inactive subscribers). AlpacaRelay's AI generates subject lines, copy, and CTA recommendations based on your WordPress contact data and content. Review the draft email, edit as needed, then click Review for Quality Scoring. Your email is analyzed across the 8-Dimension Email Quality Framework—deliverability, mobile render, CTA clarity, personalization depth, visual hierarchy, copy effectiveness, brand consistency, and structural compliance. The Email Quality Score (EQS) appears instantly (on a scale of 0–10). Aim for EQS 8+/10 before sending.

Once your email achieves an acceptable EQS, click Activate Campaign. Set delivery parameters: immediate send, scheduled send (date and time), or behavioral trigger (e.g., send on registration day). Confirm that your email list, subject line, and sender name are correct. Click Publish. Your campaign is now live and will send automatically according to your schedule. AlpacaRelay logs all delivery metrics—opens, clicks, bounces, unsubscribes, spam reports—and cross-references them with your WordPress data. You maintain consistency with AlpacaRelay's quality-first approach: every email sent through the WordPress integration is EQS-scored before delivery, ensuring your reputation, inbox placement, and subscriber engagement improve over time.
