How to Connect AlpacaRelay to Zapier
Create Your Free AlpacaRelay Account
Start by visiting AlpacaRelay and signing up for a free account—no credit card required. During onboarding, you'll create your workspace and set your brand name. This workspace is where all your Zapier-connected automations will live. Once your account is active, navigate to Settings in the left sidebar and select Integrations. You'll see Zapier listed among the available integration partners. Click the Zapier tile to begin the authorization process. AlpacaRelay will display your unique workspace ID and API key, which you'll need in the next step.
Authorize AlpacaRelay in Zapier via OAuth
Log into your Zapier account and create a new Zap. Select a trigger from any of your connected apps—common fashion industry triggers include new Shopify orders, new WooCommerce customers, new form submissions via Typeform, or new contacts in your CRM. Once your trigger is configured, move to the Action step. Search for AlpacaRelay in the Zapier app marketplace and select it as your action app. When prompted, click Connect and you'll be directed to AlpacaRelay's OAuth authorization screen. This screen requests permission to create contacts and send emails on your behalf—standard permissions for email marketing integrations. Review the permissions and click Authorize. Zapier will confirm the connection and return you to your Zap builder. This OAuth connection is bidirectional and secure; AlpacaRelay never stores your Zapier credentials.
Map Your Data Fields and Configure Email Trigger
In Zapier's action configuration, you'll map fields from your trigger app to AlpacaRelay's contact and email fields. For example, if your trigger is a new Shopify order, map the customer email, first name, and product purchased to AlpacaRelay's corresponding contact fields. AlpacaRelay accepts standard email contact data: email address, first name, last name, phone number, company name, and up to 5 custom attributes (e.g., product category, purchase amount, subscription tier). For fashion retailers, common custom attributes include size preference, brand loyalty tier, or product category interest. After mapping required fields (email and first name), select which AlpacaRelay campaign template or automation flow you want to trigger. If this is your first Zap, you can select a pre-built template—AlpacaRelay offers welcome series, abandoned cart, post-purchase, and win-back flows tailored for fashion. Alternatively, leave the campaign field blank and create a new email directly in AlpacaRelay after this Zap is live.
Create Your First Quality-Scored Email
Return to your AlpacaRelay workspace and navigate to Campaigns. Click Create New Campaign and select Email Template. Choose a fashion-relevant template (e.g., New Customer Welcome, Abandoned Browse Recovery, or Post-Purchase Thank You) or start from a blank template. Use AlpacaRelay's AI assistant to generate subject lines, preview text, and body copy based on your trigger data—for instance, if you're welcoming a new customer, the AI will personalize the subject with the customer's first name and reference their browsed or purchased category. Customize colors, fonts, and logos to match your brand guidelines. Add dynamic content blocks: if your Zap mapped product category, you can show personalized product recommendations based on that attribute. Once your email design is complete, click Save Draft. AlpacaRelay will automatically analyze your email across the 8-Dimension Email Quality Framework (Deliverability, Mobile Render, CTA Clarity, Personalization Depth, Visual Hierarchy, Copy Effectiveness, Brand Consistency, and Structural Compliance) and assign an Email Quality Score (EQS) out of 100.
Review Quality Score and Activate Your Zap
Once your email draft is saved, AlpacaRelay displays your Email Quality Score in the top-right corner of the editor. The score reflects how well your email performs across the 8 dimensions of email quality—emails scoring 8 and above are optimized for inbox placement, mobile rendering, and conversion. If your score is below 8, AlpacaRelay provides specific recommendations: for example, 'CTA button text is unclear—consider using action-oriented copy like Shop Now or Get Offer.' Make these adjustments directly in the editor; your score updates in real time. Once you're satisfied with your score (aim for 8 or higher), click Publish Email. Return to Zapier and turn on your Zap by toggling the On/Off switch in the top-right corner. Your Zap is now live. The next time your trigger fires—a new Shopify order, new form submission, or new CRM contact—AlpacaRelay will automatically create a contact and send your quality-scored email. You can monitor performance in AlpacaRelay's Analytics dashboard, which tracks open rate, click-through rate, and conversion by campaign.
