AlpacaRelay + WordPress: Quality-Scored Emails, Connected

Visit AlpacaRelay.com and sign up with your email address. No credit card required. You'll be taken to your dashboard within seconds. From here, you can access Settings, Integrations, and your first campaign builder. This free account gives you immediate access to the 8-Dimension Email Quality Framework (EQF) that scores every email before it reaches subscribers. Choose your workspace name (e.g., your health and wellness business name) so all team members see consistent branding across their email efforts.

Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard. Navigate to Settings > AlpacaRelay Integration (or install the AlpacaRelay plugin if not already present). Click Generate API Key. This key authorizes AlpacaRelay to read your WordPress contact data, post metadata, and subscriber lists without modifying your site. Copy the full key string. The connection is read-only by default, meaning AlpacaRelay imports data but cannot alter your WordPress database. This protects your site's integrity while giving AlpacaRelay everything needed to begin scoring and personalizing emails.

Return to AlpacaRelay. Go to Settings > Integrations > WordPress. Paste your API key into the authorization field and click Connect. AlpacaRelay will verify the connection within 10 seconds and display a green status indicator. Once verified, AlpacaRelay begins syncing three core data types: (1) WordPress user accounts and email addresses, (2) post and page publish metadata, and (3) WooCommerce customer orders (if WooCommerce is active on your site). Sync happens in real-time via webhooks, so new subscribers and customer actions appear in AlpacaRelay instantly. There is zero performance impact on your WordPress site—the connection runs asynchronously on AlpacaRelay's infrastructure.

In AlpacaRelay, navigate to Data Mapping. You'll see a list of WordPress fields (first name, last name, email, user role, subscription status, etc.) and their corresponding AlpacaRelay profile fields. Most mappings are automatic, but you can customize which WordPress meta fields map to AlpacaRelay segments. For health and wellness businesses, common mappings include: customer product category (e.g., yoga, nutrition, wellness coaching), purchase history, content engagement (blog post views), and user role (subscriber, member, instructor). Once mapped, your first batch of contacts syncs within 5 minutes. You can view the synced contacts in your Audience tab.

Click Create Campaign in AlpacaRelay. Choose a template or start blank. Write your first email (e.g., welcome for new WordPress subscribers, post-purchase for WooCommerce buyers, or re-engagement for inactive members). Use AlpacaRelay's AI-powered personalization to insert dynamic fields like first name, product purchased, or last login date. Once you finish editing, click Quality Score Review. AlpacaRelay automatically scans your email against the 8-Dimension Email Quality Framework, evaluating Deliverability, Mobile Render, CTA Clarity, Personalization Depth, Visual Hierarchy, Copy Effectiveness, Brand Consistency, and Structural Compliance. Your email receives an Email Quality Score (EQS) out of 10. Emails scoring 8+ are ready to send immediately; lower scores trigger specific, actionable recommendations (e.g., 'Add a fallback URL for this button' or 'Increase contrast on your CTA'). Make edits, re-score, and send when you hit your target quality threshold. Your first campaign typically goes live within 15 minutes of connection.
