AlpacaRelay + WordPress: Quality-Scored Emails, Connected

Start by signing up for AlpacaRelay at no cost—no credit card required. Visit the AlpacaRelay homepage and click Sign Up. Enter your email address, create a secure password, and confirm your email. Once verified, you'll land in the AlpacaRelay dashboard. This takes approximately 2 minutes. Your account is now active and ready to connect to WordPress. You'll use your login credentials throughout the integration process, so keep them handy. AlpacaRelay's onboarding wizard will guide you through the next steps automatically, but you can also navigate manually through Settings if you prefer.

Log into your WordPress admin dashboard. Navigate to Users > Your Profile (or Settings > AlpacaRelay if you have the AlpacaRelay WordPress plugin installed). Locate the API Key section—if you don't see it, install the AlpacaRelay WordPress plugin first from your WordPress plugin repository. Click Generate New API Key. WordPress will create a unique token tied to your site. Copy this key immediately; you'll need it in the next step. For security, AlpacaRelay recommends creating a dedicated API user with email permissions only rather than using your primary admin account. This follows the principle of least privilege and protects your site if credentials are ever compromised. Store your API key securely—treat it like a password.

Return to your AlpacaRelay dashboard. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > WordPress. Paste your WordPress API key into the connection field. Click Authorize. AlpacaRelay will verify the connection by testing a secure handshake with your WordPress site. Once confirmed, you'll see a green Connected status. At this point, AlpacaRelay begins syncing data from your WordPress instance in real time. Data synced includes: WordPress user profiles (name, email, registration date, role), post/page engagement metrics if you're using a compatible engagement tracker plugin, form submissions (if using a plugin like WPForms or Gravity Forms), and e-commerce transaction data if you're using WooCommerce. The sync uses webhooks for real-time updates—meaning new contacts and events appear in AlpacaRelay within seconds of occurring on your WordPress site. Existing WordPress contacts are imported in a single batch sync that typically completes within 5 minutes, depending on your database size.

After authorization, AlpacaRelay displays a data mapping interface. This shows which WordPress fields correspond to AlpacaRelay's contact profile fields. Standard mappings are pre-configured: WordPress email → AlpacaRelay email, WordPress display name → AlpacaRelay first name, etc. Review these mappings to ensure accuracy. If you have custom WordPress user meta fields (for example, a custom field called financial_advisor_assigned or account_tier), you can map these manually by clicking Add Custom Field. Select the WordPress source field and choose which AlpacaRelay profile field it should populate. For finance-specific WordPress sites, common custom fields include: loan application status, account balance, compliance status, and advisor assignment. Once you've verified all mappings, click Save & Continue. Your WordPress data is now structured and ready for email campaigns. No existing WordPress data is modified—AlpacaRelay reads and mirrors only.

You're now ready to build your first quality-scored email campaign. In the AlpacaRelay dashboard, click Create Campaign > Email. Choose a template or start blank. For finance contexts, AlpacaRelay offers compliance-focused templates (account statements, product updates, educational content). Compose your subject line and email body. As you write, AlpacaRelay's AI assistant suggests improvements—subject line variations based on open-rate science, CTA optimization, and personalization tokens. Once your email is draft-ready, click Preview & Score. AlpacaRelay instantly runs your email through the 8-Dimension Email Quality Framework (EQF), analyzing: Deliverability compliance, Mobile Render quality, CTA Clarity, Personalization Depth, Visual Hierarchy, Copy Effectiveness, Brand Consistency, and Structural Compliance. Your email receives an Email Quality Score (EQS) out of 10. Emails scoring EQS 8+ typically achieve 18-24% higher open rates and 31% better click-through rates than unscored emails in the finance sector. If your score is below 8, AlpacaRelay provides specific recommendations—for instance, 'CTA button is too small on mobile devices' or 'Subject line lacks personalization.' Revise your email, re-score, and iterate until you reach your target quality level. Once satisfied, click Send or Schedule. Your email is now live to your WordPress contacts, quality-scored and optimized.
