How to Connect AlpacaRelay to Salesforce
Create Your Free AlpacaRelay Account
Visit AlpacaRelay and sign up for a free account—no credit card required. During onboarding, you'll be asked about your email use case (customer lifecycle, lead nurture, win-back campaigns, etc.). For beauty brands using Salesforce, select 'Customer Lifecycle' or 'Post-Purchase.' This helps AlpacaRelay's AI understand your contact base and pre-configure recommended automations. The entire process takes under 5 minutes. Once verified, you'll land in your AlpacaRelay dashboard and see the 'Integrations' tab in the left navigation.
Navigate to Salesforce Integration and Authorize OAuth
Go to Settings > Integrations > Salesforce. Click 'Connect to Salesforce.' You'll be redirected to Salesforce's OAuth authorization screen. Log in with your Salesforce admin credentials. AlpacaRelay requests three core permissions: (1) read access to Contacts and Leads, (2) read access to custom objects (e.g., beauty product purchases, service appointments, loyalty tiers), and (3) webhook access for real-time event triggers (e.g., new contact created, opportunity stage changed). Review each permission—they're read-only for contact data and write-only for email engagement tracking (opens, clicks). Authorize by clicking 'Allow.' This one-click OAuth typically completes in 10-15 seconds. Your Salesforce instance is now connected to AlpacaRelay.
Map Salesforce Fields and Configure Data Sync
After authorization, AlpacaRelay displays a field-mapping interface. Standard Salesforce fields—FirstName, LastName, Email, Phone, Industry—auto-map to AlpacaRelay's contact schema. For beauty-specific data, map custom fields: Product Category (skincare, makeup, haircare), Purchase History, Last Purchase Date, Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), and Beauty Profile (skin type, preferences). Confirm that sync direction is one-way from Salesforce to AlpacaRelay (your Salesforce data remains the source of truth). Sync happens in real-time via webhooks for new/updated contacts and daily batch sync for historical records. Once configured, click 'Activate Sync.' AlpacaRelay begins importing your Salesforce contact database immediately—expect full sync within 2-4 hours depending on contact volume.
Create Your First Quality-Scored Email Campaign
Return to the dashboard and click 'Create Campaign' > 'Email.' Choose a template (welcome, post-purchase, re-engagement, or start blank). Review Email Quality Score and Activate Automation
Your email receives an Email Quality Score (EQS) out of 10, based on the 8-Dimension Email Quality Framework. If the score is 7+ (recommended threshold), approve the campaign and select your audience from imported Salesforce segments (e.g., 'Purchased in Last 30 Days,' 'High CLV Customers,' 'New Subscribers'). Set send time (immediately, scheduled, or triggered by a Salesforce event—e.g., 'send when Opportunity moves to Closed-Won'). Hit 'Launch.' The email goes live within seconds. AlpacaRelay automatically tracks opens, clicks, and unsubscribes, syncing engagement data back to Salesforce as custom fields for future segmentation. If your EQS is below 7, the interface suggests improvements (e.g., stronger CTA, better personalization). Make edits, re-score, and relaunch.
