How to Connect AlpacaRelay to Google Analytics
Create Your AlpacaRelay Account
Start by signing up for a free AlpacaRelay account at alpacarelay.com. No credit card is required. Once you've confirmed your email and set a password, you'll land in the AlpacaRelay dashboard. This account is your central hub for all integrations, email campaigns, and quality-scored content generation. The onboarding wizard will guide you through basic setup, but you can skip ahead to integrations at any time. Your account automatically comes with access to the 8-Dimension Email Quality Framework (EQF) — all emails you create will be scored across Deliverability, Mobile Render, CTA Clarity, Personalization Depth, Visual Hierarchy, Copy Effectiveness, Brand Consistency, and Structural Compliance before deployment.
Navigate to Settings and Enable Google Analytics Connection
Once logged in, go to Settings (gear icon, bottom left) and select Integrations from the left sidebar. You'll see a list of available platforms. Find Google Analytics in the ecommerce category and click Connect. AlpacaRelay will present the OAuth authorization screen, explaining exactly which data permissions are being requested: read access to Google Analytics views, event data, user segments, and conversion metrics. Do NOT grant write access — AlpacaRelay only reads analytics data; it does not modify your Google Analytics account. Click Authorize, and you'll be redirected back to AlpacaRelay to confirm the connection.
Map Your Analytics Data to Email Contacts
After authorization, AlpacaRelay displays a data mapping interface. Here you'll connect Google Analytics User ID, client ID, or email address (if available in your GA4 implementation) to your AlpacaRelay contact list. Select which analytics properties and views you want to sync. Choose whether you want real-time sync (webhooks fire immediately when events occur) or daily batch sync (all data pulls at 2 AM UTC). For ecommerce, real-time is recommended so abandoned cart triggers fire within minutes of cart abandonment. You'll also specify which events to track: purchases, add-to-cart, page views, custom events, and conversion goals. AlpacaRelay begins syncing immediately — this is one-way data flow from Google Analytics to AlpacaRelay, with zero performance impact on your analytics implementation.
Create Your First Quality-Scored Email Campaign
With data synced, you're ready to build. Click Campaigns and select New Email. Choose a template or start from scratch. AlpacaRelay's AI imports your analytics segments (e.g., 'users who viewed product X but didn't purchase,' or 'high-value repeat customers'). Populate the email with dynamic content based on GA events: product recommendations based on browse history, personalized CTAs based on conversion stage, and subject lines optimized for your audience segment. As you build, the Email Quality Score (EQS) updates in real-time in the right sidebar. Every element — from subject line copyability to CTA prominence to mobile responsiveness — is evaluated against the 8 dimensions. Aim for an EQS of 8+/10 before sending (emails scoring 8+/10 typically outperform those scoring below 7 by 31% in open rates and 47% in click-through rates).
Activate Quality Scoring and Deploy
Before hitting Send, review your email's EQS breakdown. The dashboard shows which dimensions need attention: if Mobile Render is flagging issues, you'll see the specific rendering problem on mobile devices. Make adjustments (tighten copy, increase CTA contrast, adjust personalization tokens). Once your EQS reaches 8+/10, the Send button activates. You'll select your audience from synced GA segments, set send time (AlpacaRelay can optimize send time based on user timezone and engagement patterns from GA), and deploy. After sending, AlpacaRelay tracks opens, clicks, conversions, and re-imports engagement data back into your GA view within 30 minutes. This creates a feedback loop: high-EQS emails train your AI on what works, improving subsequent campaigns. Most users complete setup and send their first EQS-scored campaign within 15 minutes of connecting Google Analytics.
